BWF Betting has partnered with a betting company to help with media operations during the World Championships in Tokyo.

BWF Betting from August 22 to 28, Japan will host the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Championships for the first time, and official betting partner M88 Mansion has been hired to help with media activities.

More than 300 athletes from over 40 nations are slated to participate in the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, making Japan just the sixth Asian country to hold the event.

“As part of the M88 Mansion-BWF Betting cooperation, information and highlights will be published on the BWF Betting website and social media channels before, during, and after the event,” according to a BWF statement.

“A top BWF player will be highlighted and interviewed as well.”

The competition will include five tournaments: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

The draw for all five took place yesterday in Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur.

BWF Betting in World Championships Tokyo

Viktor Axelsen, the men’s singles number one and Tokyo 2020 gold medalist, might face fellow Dane Rasmus Genke in the quarter-finals, while Indonesians Jonatan Christie and Anthony Ginting are also in the top half of the bracket and could play in the semi-finals.

In the women’s singles, reigning champion Akane Yamaguchi of Japan and world number 14 Sayaka Takahashi of Japan might meet in the third round.

Another highlight is the likely final-four encounter between South Korean An Se-young and Indian two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu. Hoki Takur and Kobayashi Ygo of Japan are defending their men’s doubles championship at home and face a series of relatively easy trials in the early stages.

Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan of China have also escaped some difficult early match-ups as they enter the women’s doubles tournament as reigning champions.

The BWF Betting World Championships, first contested in 1977, have been held yearly since 2005, with the exception of summer Olympic years. It was last held in Huelva, Spain, in 2021, with Jakarta, Indonesia, serving as the previous Asian host in 2015.
